Gold Coast Traffic Lawyer
Joy is a criminal lawyer. She holds a dual degree from the University of Queensland, being in a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History. She completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University and was admitted as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2020.
She recently served as a judge’s associate in the District Court of Queensland to both her Honour Judge Richards in Brisbane and his Honour Judge Jackson QC in Southport. This experience has given her an intimate understanding of court systems and exposed her many criminal advocates in a wide range of matters.
She has experience in youth matters gained from working as associate to Judge Richards, the President of the Childrens Court of Queensland. Joy has also spent time in many regional courthouses in Queensland while circuiting as an associate and travels to represent clients in her current position at Potts Lawyers.
Her time as an associate solidified her passion to practice criminal law and provide quality representation and advocacy to defendants. She appreciates that being in the criminal system is a uniquely prejudicial position and is motivated to help people navigate what is often the most distressing and uncertain time in their lives, no matter how minor or serious the case may seem. Her approach is compassionate, conscientious and professional.
Joy specialises in criminal and traffic law. Prior to her associateship, Joy worked in a commercial legal practice.
Outside the law Joy has many interests including acting (particularly in sketch comedy), reading and interesting food. She has a great love of music.
